After the Rally - On to Tennessee - Movie Day

(Heiskell, TN) Hi 78 Lo 61 -- Before leaving the Tom Johnson Camping Center on Monday we met with Mike and Terri for breakfast at the cafe inside the service department. There were also a few other rally members there to get service done on their RVs before leaving the area. (Click on the photos to enlarge them.)

After final goodbyes and hugs all around we left around 10:30 to head west on I-40 through the Smoky Mountains to the Escapees Raccoon Valley RV Park in Heiskell, TN. The weather was threatening all the way but we had no rain and the traffic wasn't bad. We always love driving through the Smokies. The scenery is just beautiful.

After a while we crossed the border into Tennessee. I kind of miss taking photos of the welcome signs when we cross into a new state. But since we've been to all 48 states and we have a photo of every sign, there's no need to any more. Now I don't have to stress over having the camera ready. :)

We stayed at the Escapees Raccoon Valley RV Park a few years ago. It's a small but very nice park with full hookups. We're here for a week and plan to check out some of the sights in the area once the weather forecast improves later this week.

Our site, followed by some views around the park.

Yesterday (Tuesday) we went to a local Hobby Town to get some help with my Dromida Kodo drone that Jim bought me for my birthday. It would hover for a few seconds then roll over and crash. One of the nice (young) clerks fiddled with the alignment of the motors and got it to hover, but he couldn't get it to fly forward. He switched to a new controller and it flew just fine. We now have to call the manufacturer and ask them to send us a new controller. We'll let you know how it turns out.

Today looked to be rainy so we made it a movie day. We went to see "San Andreas", a disaster movie about a series of violent earthquakes along the San Andreas fault. We both enjoyed it a lot more than we thought we would and give it a thumbs up. The special effects were incredible! If you like good old disaster movies like Poseidon Adventure and Earthquake, you'll love this one. They sure made a mess of San Francisco! :)

A couple of reminders: We've been asked about the parks we've stayed at, including military famcamps. It's all on an Excel spreadsheet we've been mainaining, which you can view by clicking where you see "Parks We've Stayed At" on the right side of this page. There's also a list of other RV blogs, and interactive maps of our travels which you can click around on.

Thank you for reading, see you in a few days.

It was fun following along with your rally of all the RV Dreamers! Looked like you had a great time.

We liked the little fenced in area at Raccoon Valley for the doggers to play with a ball and run around a bit.

Did you know you can leave RV related items for sale in the main office on a donation table and the fees generated can be used for park improvements? I cleaned out some cabinets when we were there last and got rid of some stuff that was good, just not stuff we used anymore.
