(Avon Park, FL) Hi 86 Lo 63 -- Today was the craft show, where everyone in the park showed off their hobbies and crafts they did over the winter. They offer a lot of different arts and crafts classes here in the park, and although I didn't attend very many this year, I plan to attend a lot next winter. There’s things I’ve never seen before and are very interesting. I couldn't resist posting a lot of pictures. (Click on any photo to make it larger.)
A couple of days ago I showed photos of some unfinished 3-D art. This is an example of a finished picture. It's a total of 4 layers, and it’s beautiful.
A quilt. The detail on the houses were made up of small beads, earrings, and charms.
Another one of the many quilts.
The bears on this quilt are all cross-stitched.
I didn’t get her name, but she does beautiful beading.
Stenciling art.
Of course every craft show has to have a Bedazzler.
I'm learning string art. There were some beautiful examples, such as these.
The petals on these beadwork flowers are made from knee high stockings. I’m hoping to learn that next year. Very interesting.
Believe it or not these beads are dried potatoes, which are painted and then covered with beads. The balls are made with foam balls and gathered material made into flowers.
A little of everything. The bells are made from very small flower pots.
All of these are made from ribbon.
Examples of iris folding, which is a form of paper folding.
These are commonly seen at Christmas time. The box is lighted from inside, which makes a beautiful night time decoration.
One of the many tables, this one with crocheted items.
Here’s Kathleen with the beautiful rug she just finished hooking.
Rugs of all types, colors, and construction.
This is an ooops. A lady had a whole bunch of spices stored in her oven. Her husband, not knowing they were in there, turned on the oven and they all melted. This was the result. They displayed it so everyone could offer a guess as to what it looked like. A couple of ideas offered: birds making a nest, and a dragon with a baby in the nest.
The purple boa is made from netting.
The men weren't left out. This was made from wood shavings.
This boat is made from a palm frond. It took him two weeks to make, working on it a few hours a day.
Wood carvings.
This boat is made from wood slats less than 1/2 inch wide, and took two months to complete. Magnificent!
More examples of wood carving.
Two gentlemen showing off their wood carvings.
These are very detailed. The small hearts look like loops of material, but they're each made from one piece of wood.
Bikini bottom door stops... so cute!
Wood art.
The little leaf looks like it was mounted on a block of wood, but the whole thing is one piece of wood. It's hard to see here, but it was very detailed.
This rose also started out as one piece of wood.
All of this were the results from the Friday craft classes here in the park. I plan to be very active next year. First, I need to get up earlier, second I need to leave the computer alone. :) What a fun morning.
I did some computer projects most of the afternoon. I’m trying to clean out jokes that I never re-read and working with the blogs for this year's “book.” I also chatted online with some of our RV'ing friends to find out where they'll be this summer and where we might be able to meet up.
It rained later in the afternoon, but it was a quick shower. I made a shrimp dinner and called it a night. We watched Nationwide race this evening, and then I went into the chatroom while Jim watched basketball. Just another day in paradise!

Those are very talented people that did those crafts.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Loved all the pictures of the crafts. Thanks so much for sharing them.
Some of that stuff was incredible! Nest year you will be Mrs Crafty Lady :)
I love craft shows and am always fascinated by the creations people come up with. Some of that wood art is unbelievable! How in the world did that person create a rose out of a block of wood?? Truly a work of art!
Terri
I would have loved to stroll around the craft show with you! Or better yet, put up a booth with my socks and rugs and do some cranking in front of folks!
