Jim Visits with his Friend

(Scott AFB, IL) Hi 67 Lo 52 -- It was still chilly but not as bad this morning, and it warmed up to be a perfect day later in the afternoon.

We had a date with Jim's friend in St. Louis for lunch today. Jim worked with Steve back in the late 80's at a Defense Agency in downtown St. Louis. That was one of the three jobs Jim held during the 12 years we were stationed here at Scott AFB. Steve still works there and we try to see him whenever we're in town. We met at Blues City Deli, an excellent deli in a pretty downtown neighborhood.

The food was delicious! It was so good to see Steve again. He and Jim love to talk politics and other world affairs. Steve gets to travel all over the world in his job and it's so neat to hear some of his stories.

Thanks for lunch Steve, it was great seeing you again!

We came back to the base and stopped by the base exchange where Jim bought a a DVD.  The DVD portion of the home theater system that came with our rig stopped working. The rest of the functions work fine, so he got a cheap DVD player to plug into the side inputs on our TV whenever we want to watch a movie. He worked a little while getting it set up, then went to pick up Frank to have dinner with him and go to the O'Fallon High School football game. It's a father and son night. I decided to start taking pictures of our belongings to start listing what's in them for insurance purposes. There's been too many fires in RV's lately, and it worries me not to have our contents listed and pictures taken. I'll price the items out and put the list on our backup hard drive.

We'll have the grandkids tomorrow, so there's plenty of fun coming up.

If you had a fire in your RV the backup drive could well be gone too. Better to save it to an online backup service or email it to yourself at Gmail & put it in your "Save" folder. Or burn it to a DVD and send it to a relative or friend. I worry about this too with our house and know I should do it, but just never get around to it.

I need to do an inventory for us too. I think that once I get around to it, I'll send a copy to the cloud so it'll always be there and available to us should we need it. I'd be afraid of losing any back up unless it's off site somewhere.
