Checking Out the Base

(Naval Weapons Station, Charleston, SC) Hi 75 Lo 52 - The weather can’t be any better, at least at the moment.  There’s a nice breeze coming through the park.  The morning sun comes directly into our back window, so it's cooler in the afternoon without the sun coming through the side windows.

We didn’t have a big day planned. The road that leads off the base is closed to repair a railroad crossing, and we're not familiar enough with the area to find alternate routes.  We walked around the park to see what's here.

The bathhouse and laundry is very clean.

The park has one loop, and it's very open and not crowded together. It has 24 transient sites, and the rest are long term.  Here's a view of our site.

This is a very long trailer. Reminds me of the Lucille Ball movie “The Long Long Trailer”.

We did a little shopping at the Commissary and NEX (Navy Exchange), and drove around the base to look things over. Just a slow, lazy day.

I’m playing a Scrabble-like game called Words With Friends on the Droid.  It’s a great app and makes you think. I guess that’s great for “old minds”.   If anyone is interested in playing with me, email me at deewalter09@yahoo.com.

Tomorrow we’re going to downtown Charleston. I hope you follow along.

Okay, I qualify... I have an old mind. Exactly how much time does this game take and how does it work?
