Tampa Trip for VA Benefits and Another RV Park Visited

(Wauchula, FL) Hi 82 Lo 69 -- We got up early to get a big breakfast before leaving for Tampa. Jim applied for and was approved for VA medical benefits, and he was scheduled for an orientation session today at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. We knew the place would be huge and we were warned the parking takes some time to find. We lucked out and found a spot right away. There were people everywhere. The building is huge but we asked where we were to go and found the room without a problem. We were very early and the room wasn't open yet, so we located the cafeteria for a quick bite to eat then went back. Jim got signed in and we watched a video on what was being offered, then was given a date and time to come back next week for some initial medical screening and to meet with his primary care physician.

It was around 2:00 when we left so we decided to stop at a nearby mall just to have a walk around. It was very close to the University of South Florida (it's name is University Mall), so the stores were geared to the college crowd.  We didn't stay long because we wanted to avoid rush hour traffic.

On the way home we checked out another RV park, Sanlan RV park in Lakeland.  It's our kind of park, mostly open, not too many trees, and well-maintained. It's on our list of possibilities for a future stay in Florida.

Here's a few views:

It's next to a golf course. We're not golfers, but it sure is pretty.

We got home just before dark and had a simple dinner of soup and sandwiches, then relaxed for the evening. It's going to be a busy month and the days are filling up fast.

Good luck with the VA, hope it works out well for you. I'm very interested in the whole process because I have to start it now, too.

Sounds like you made progress today at the VA... University Mall is a busy mall. I haven't been there in years. Sanlan RV Park is really nice ~ we've camped there many times with our RV group. We should all try to meet up again before everyone heads back home!
Have fun & travel safe

How nice that you are getting all set up and enrolled in the VA. It's quite a process from what mom said in getting my step-dad all set.
