Fun Day with Decisions on What to Do

(Wauchula, FL) Hi 85 Lo 69 --  We kept the AC on all night and glad we did, it took out the humidity and kept us more comfortable.  The weatherman said we might get rain today, but we didn't and it was one great day outside.  This is one winter that I'm staying tanned and have to be careful of a sun burn.

The morning went fast.  I chatted with our son in Chicago. He works downtown and he didn't even realize Lake Shore Drive was snowed in so bad. He lives an hour south of downtown and he stayed home on Wednesday, but the roads were cleared enough for him to go to work yesterday (Thursday).

I stayed outside the rest of the afternoon. I did my walk and talked to several people along the way.  I also met with a guy that has been playing harmonica for years.  He has a full case of different "keyed" harmonicas. I learned a lot from him and he even asked if I wanted to play with a group today.  I chose not to. I don't play by ear, but by reading music.  I played shuffleboard then met with Gale to discuss having a chili cook off here in the park.  We're not sure we can pull it off.  There will probably be a lot more eating than making the chili.  There's a meeting every Monday morning at the clubhouse for coffee and donuts, and she's going to bring it up with everyone to get their thoughts.  We'll be gone on Monday so I'll get with her again when we get back to discuss it further.

We got new neighbors right behind us, Karol and Mary from Michigan.  Their site was one of the last ones open and the wind would always come through that space like a funnel.  Jim would always notice our awning was flapping a lot more than our neighbors' awnings.  Now that the space is filled with a big motor home we notice a pretty big reduction in the wind around our rig. Nice!  Jim kept an eye on him as he backed into the site.  Our satellite dish is set up behind our rig and he was concerned that he might have to move it.  There ended up being enough room, but a little while later we noticed our TV picture disappeared.  It turns out the dish was blocked by the back of the motor home just enough to interfere with one of the three satellites we need for all of our channels.  So Jim decided to move the dish and re-aim it.  He got out his Birdog signal meter and, uh oh... dead battery.  And the meter takes a long time to re-charge (like 8 hours).  So Jim un-staked the tripod, moved it over to where he thought the signal path was clear, and just estimated the direction.  He went inside and guess what... perfect picture and strong signal on all three satellites.  So all is right with the world.  :)  He is really getting good with that dish!

This is hilarious.  I've seen it before but worth posting for a great laugh.  It's good to be a senior with humor.
