Day Trip to Meet New Friends

(Wauchula, FL) – I got up a little earlier today.  I had to hurry through my emails and blogs so I could make a special dish to take with us to meet fellow bloggers Jackie and Tony Alabasini.  They are at the Happy Traveler RV Park in Thonotosassa, just east of Tampa.  On the way to their place we passed the famous "Airstream Ranch."  It's on the south side of I-4 at around the 14 mile point.

We had the best time with Jackie and Tony! I’ve been reading her blog for a couple of years off and on and felt like I knew them as soon as we drove up.  They’ve been full time since 2006.  They live in a beautiful Holiday Rambler Alumascape Suite fifth wheel.  They're both from South Africa and have the loveliest accents.  It was wonderful discussing the RV lifestyle and comparing favorite places.

They prepared a terrific late lunch/early dinner ("Linner") for us.  We had chicken breasts Florentine (stuffed with spinach and ricotta), mashed sweet potatos with a candied pecan topping, warm green bean & smoked turkey salad, and apple salad that I brought.  Before the meal we enjoyed cocktails and wine (including a bottle of Chocovine, a delicious chocolate red wine).

While we were there the park had a golf cart and scooter Christmas parade.

Santa even found time to make an appearance.

We left later then we planned because we were having so much fun.  After some hugs and "see ya laters" we left for home just as it was getting dark. Fog was starting to creep in and the temperature was dropping.  It's supposed to rain tomorrow, but between rain showers we have to get the RV ready for travel on Monday to Lazy Days for some service.  It’s so great meeting new friends.  Thank you so much Tony and Jackie for a great afternoon!

I remember seeing that Airstream Ranch when we were exploring that area. (Daughter lives in Tampa) What a delightful Linner with new friends and the parade looks like so much fun! What a creative idea!

Hope someday to have a Linner with y'all!

Such a coincidence-you enjoyed a great "linner" and we describe our meals during that same time frame as "luppers." You were in our "country" as our stix 'n brix home is in Valrico, about 6 miles from Airstream Ranch. Enjoy the Lazydays trip.
