Pre-Rally Fun – Watching RV’s Arrive

(Goshen, IN) – We got up before the sun. That’s twice this month, but I can assure you, it won’t be a daily thing.  We were hitched and on the way with three other RV’s headed to Goshen to the Escapee Rally that starts on Sunday. We paid a little extra to come in two days early.

The sun was right at eye level when we left and you couldn’t see a thing in front of you. I was behind Jim but it was so bright I couldn’t see him or the road. It was nerve wracking and very scary driving.  We were glad when we finally turned away from the east to get out of the rising sun's rays.

We were trying to be at the fairgrounds early enough to maybe get a site in the section where we were last week.  That’s not where they put us. We are in a totally different section of the fairgrounds.

It wasn’t long before the RV's really started pouring in, so we put out our chairs and watched the parking crew.  It was the best free entertainment we've had in a long while.

Later in the morning some of the parking crew used our chairs for a short rest. They were waiting for a few more rigs to come in before 2:00.

We met up with the rest of the Elkhart gang that came in later.  They were parked in a section a ways from us so we’ll be doing a lot of walking this next week to meet up.

While we were sitting around the Good Year blimp went over.  It’s headed for the Notre Dame football game tomorrow, but it stayed above us for quite awhile.

It wouldn't be an RV rally without a potluck dinner.  Even though the rally doesn't start until Sunday, we got a head start with a potluck.  People come up with the greatest foods .

We were all tired. It was a very early morning and the day was full of meeting people (and hugging... Escapees are really into hugging), walking around and in general staying on the go.  We went back home and crashed for the evening.

Tomorrow will bring more fun and fellowship.
