Wine Tasting - Rving Friends - Concert - Luncheon - Game - Veterans Luncheon

Auburndale, FL  (Hi  80   Lo 67)

The days are finally flying by which means I'm staying busy. We started out the week going to Lakeridge Winery in Clermont for a wine tasting with our neighbors. The tour was short and the tasting was excellent.  We bought a couple bottles of sweet wine. Great place to visit. (Click on the pictures to enlarge).

Sunday,  Lessie and Ed came for a visit. They're friends from our RV'ing days. We try to meet up whenever they're in our area. Rob and Sheryl were in Kissimmee so we went to visit with them.
Jim, Dee, Ed, Lessie, Rob and Sheryl.  We had a wonderful visit with everyone.

Monday  I went to line dancing and Jim had an eye appointment. It's time for him to have his second cataract removed, so he'll be dealing with all appointments that go with getting that done. I had an HOA meeting Monday night.

Tuesday my sister came up from Okeechobee for a massage I got her for her birthday. She needs a TV stand so we went to Rooms to Go to shop for one. She found it and was thrilled, she's been looking for a while. She left for home before the sun started going down. That evening Jim and I headed to Orlando to the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing arts to see Lindsay Buckingham and Christine MacVie perform. They're from the group Fleetwood Mac, and they made an album together. It was wonderful. They sang songs from their new album plus several Fleetwood Mac songs. The opening act was a group from California named Wilderado. They were good too, and we hope they make it to the big time.

Views around the Center.

In the bathroom of the concert hall is this sink. I thought the heart shape from the soap was a neat touch.

Wednesday was the weekly morning meeting with coffee and donuts. There's more and more people from the north coming down and the place is filling up. After the meeting a few of us ladies got together for lunch in downtown Lakeland at Garden Bistro. It was a great lunch and the visiting was even better. The restaurant is on Mirror lake.

It's beside the Hollis Gardens, which are quite lovely.

A nice little sitting area to meditate.

 Kathy set up the luncheon.

Friday was the first basketball game home game for the Lakeland Magic. We went to the preseason game but this was the first of 24 regular season games. The section for premium season ticket holders, with meals provided, was full of people.

This gal was on a unicycle. She placed bowls on her leg, then flipped them in the air onto her head, sometimes up to five at a time. I would say she had 20 of them by the time she was done. Impressive.

This guy was in front of us and never once watched the game. He was face timing with a gal the whole game. Not that we were looking over his shoulder or anything. :)
Saturday we had a Veterans Appreciation Luncheon at the clubhouse. There were quite a few in attendance, and it very well organized.

Artie is 96 and served in World War II. Marty to the right was MC for the event.

Military vets in line for sandwiches.

It's been a hectic week and another one is on tap for next week.  We are going to a community theater to see a play tonight but will report that for next week.

I'll leave you with a picture of Ali the alligator. He's been in the canal a couple times this week. He's a baby, and we haven't seen mom around but I'm sure she's close by to watch her young one.
