Friend from Illinois - Afib - Buzzards

(Auburndale, FL)  Hi 67 Lo 58 --  We are back settled in from the cruise and our friend Ruth from Illinois came for a visit this week. It was great catching up with all the activities that's happened with her. We didn't do a lot, but she wanted to see Harry Potter at Universal. She got tickets ahead of time for Tuesday. I couldn't go with her but she had a great time.

Jim had atrial fibrillation (AFIB) for a few months. It's his third time having afib; it seems to come back every 5 years. He's been on blood thinners but it didn't go back in rhythm by itself, so the doctor scheduled him for a cardioversion on Tuesday. This is his third go around with afib so I wasn't too worried. There were two other people in the waiting room that were rv'ers so we had some good conversation. It wasn't long the doctor came in and said all was fine and we could go home in a couple hours. We were home by 2:00 after a stop for lunch. I hope he stays in rhythm for good this time.

We went to Plant City to Parkesdale Groves for strawberry shortcake and ice cream. I got my strawberry fix.

The eating area.

Sorting and cleaning oranges.

Ruth had mentioned that she's never seen a manatee so we went to Apollo Beach to the manatee viewing area. I forgot to take pictures but here's a couple from the website.

We saw several the manatees, but not up close. They've changed the whole area since we were there a couple years ago. It's totally different and lots of people.

We had some excitement by the canal for a couple days. We had at least nine buzzards eating a dead fish on the bank.

Watching for trouble.

We had a great time with a good friend this week. Now it's back to the clubhouse activities and starting the process of getting vendors lined up for the October craft bazaar. It's never too early to get on the calendar. We're also scheduling a makeover for the front area of the house. It's too hot to work in the summer so all the upgrades need to be done in the winter.

My Mom's cardiac ablation seems to be working so far...keeping our fingers crossed. Hope Jim's cardioversion lasts a long time!
