Settled In For the Winter

(Avon Park, FL)  Hi 87  Lo 68 -- It took a few days to get things organized and settled in here at Adelaide Shores RV Resort. There's a lot of small stuff that I do inside when we're here for the winter, like remove the rubber matting between glassware and the pans that I put in so they don't rub against each other when we travel. We called Hurricane Mobile Washing to wash and wax the RV. The owner is a local guy who is also the coach of the Sebring High School football team. We call on them every year we're here and they always do a great job for us, and at a decent price. Two guys worked for over four hours on the RV, and they also washed our two vehicles and power washed the older part of our cement pad. (Click on the photos to enlarge them.)

We picked up our steps from storage. They were filthy from sitting out in the weather all summer. After about half a bottle of clorox and some scrubbing they look good as new.

Everything now is all clean and shiny!

The final thing on our Winter set up list was installing the sunscreen on our awning. The afternoon sun sets on door side and the screen really helps keep us cool both inside and out.

The park is pretty empty, and very quite. Each day we've been here one or two snowbirds have arrived. Many more will start coming in this week after the first of the month, peaking just after Thanksgiving.

The park re-paved all the interior roads this past summer, and they're very nice.

The clubhouse opens today (Nov 1), so the season has officially started.

Here's my latest crocheted critter, a little Halloween bear.

Now I'll start on some Christmas things. It's going to be a busy and fun winter.

See you in a few days.

Going to miss heading south this winter but then next year we'll be going Fulltime as well. Hope you get to enjoy the winter season and get to meet a lot on old and new RV friends.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.
