Day Trip to Hannibal (Seeing Some Old Friends)

(Edwardsville, IL) Hi 64 Lo 55 -- We left this morning for Hannibal, MO to have lunch with our RV'ing friends Ken and Cindy. They live in Quincy, IL, which is across the Mississippi River from Hannibal. We decided to meet them in Hannibal so they could get a break from the work they're doing on renovating their home. It rained all night and we thought we would have a rainy trip, but the rain held off so we had a nice two-hour trip.

Ken and Cindy

I met Cindy in the RV-Dreams.com chat room and we met in person at an RV-Dreams.com rally several years ago. We've tried to meet up with them at least once every year. We met in downtown Hannibal at The Brick Oven for lunch, then walked around town and did some shopping. Thanks you two for taking the time to meet wish us.

Jim needed a battery in one of his watches. He put the watch in the glove compartment of the car to have it handy when we came across a watch place. There happened to be a wonderful old-school clock shop on the main drag, so we stopped in. I enjoyed looking at all the beautiful clocks while the repairman installed the battery.

I just love clocks.

After we said so long to Ken and Cindy, we headed a couple of miles south to the Mark Twain Caverns RV Park to see another RV'ing couple, Ed and Marilyn Dray. Ed work camps as a tour guide at the caverns. It was nice to get caught up and share our travel experiences. I forgot to take their picture today, so here's a photo we took when we saw last them in Colorado a couple years ago.

My sister lives in Troy, MO, which was right on our way. We stopped by for a short visit with her and her husband Herm on our way home. I'll be going back on Sunday for a couple days of fun with Sis.

We stopped for a quick dinner at Culver's on the way back to the RV. It was dark when we got home. It was a fun day, and more to come.

See you tomorrow.

Fun days are important to have as often as possible. And it is always great to meet up with people you have communicated with but had never met in person.
