The World's First KOA

(Billings, MT) Hi 63 Lo 45 -- It finally stopped raining. Today it's chilly but sunny. We went out for a grocery run this morning and that’s all we did, so I went out and took some pictures of the park while the sun was out.

The Billings KOA opened in 1962 and is the world's first KOA. It’s on the Yellowstone River and has everything for family fun.

The traditional A-frame office building you see at most KOA's.

The park is close to downtown Billings. We don't normally stay at KOA parks because they tend to be higher priced than most. This one is no different. We're paying $40 per night, which is above our budget. But there's only one other park in Billings, and it's just down the street from us. They're getting $50-$80 per night, and the park doesn't look much different than ours. I guess it's all about supply and demand. The fewer the parks, the more they can charge.

We are getting ready for our move tomorrow to Miles City, MT. See you in two days.

We rarely stay at a KOA, too because they are too pricey. As for the Billings KOA, after all the huge trouble they caused a couple of years ago over Walmart overnighting, I'll bypass them with my last ounce of strength!
