Sorting and Packing

(Troy, MO) Hi 65 Lo 56 --  I'm still trying to get use to the time change. First it was the change to standard time in Florida, and now another hour change here in Missouri. It doesn't really matter, I'm not going anywhere and don't have any appointments. This morning I tried to find my The Price Is Right on Sis's Direct TV system (we have DISH). After searching and not finding it, I then remembered it's Saturday. So not only do I lose track of the time, I also sometimes lose track of the day. Ah, the retired life. :)

My sister was working all day training puppies (she's a professional dog trainer) so I worked thru mom's boxes of crafts. I know more about what's worth selling and what should be donated, so it was easier for me to go through them. Mom loved making greeting cards, so there's lots of paper, stamps, and card-making tools. She also had a lot of clothes, which we'll take to Goodwill.

This evening we chilled out and watched some TV. I brought my laptop, so I'm still getting my chat room fix each night. Jim doesn't have anything to report from Florida. I'm sure he's having fun watching all his sports. And he's probably putting too much salt on his food. :)

Sorting stuff is not easy, especially if you want to get rid of some but have an emotional attachment to it. Once you get through there, you can come here and help me sort things. . .

I know how tough this is as I went through I when my Mother passed. Consider donating the clothes to the Salvation Army instead of Goodwill. More money goes to those who need it, not to management salaries.

I second what John Huber said, Goodwill asks too much for their stuff, and it doesn't always go to the right pockets.

Personally, I prefer to donate to the local small non-profit thrift shops that are usually run by volunteers. Then everyone in the community wins.
Happy Trails, Penny.
