(Troy, MO) Hi 54 Lo 39 -- Hi Still too cold. This is my last day with Sis, so we decided to have a play day, a trip to Hermann, MO for some wine shopping. We love that little town about an hour Southwest of Troy. Rain was expected today, but nothing major.
Our first stop was Bias Winery in Burger, MO, a tiny town with lots of empty buildings. It’s like going to a ghost town, but they have wonderful wine. If it’s raining hard or flooding in the area there’s no way to get there. It’s in the marsh land and floods easily. Doris stocked up on a case of wine for the winter months, then we made our way to Stonehill Winery and Restaurant in Hermann.
Hermann is a great little town. It was raining but I tried to get a few pictures. (Click to enlarge pictures)
Stonehill Winery
We had a great lunch at the Stonehill Restaurant. We love eating there when we’re in town. It looks so different in the winter with the bare trees and empty grape vines.
We came back to the house and started another batch of chicken and dumplings. Doris wanted to be sure she knows how to make it before I leave. I’m leaving tomorrow to be with our son and family in O’Fallon, IL for the next couple of days. I’ll be headed back to Florida on Sunday.

Hope she doesn't break into that case of wine before she gets home. Rainy days make me sleepy.

Are you going to visit Donna and Sam in O'Fallon? They love company. As I said on Facebook, love Stonehill Winery. Always stop there when in the area. Also, I remember while working in Montgomery City we would go to Troy. There was a restaurant there we liked. Since it was in 1980 much too long ago to remember the name.
Hermann is a neat town, wineries and a wurstfest in March.
