Mom Alberta's Southern Cooking

(Havelock, NC) Hi 64 Lo 57 -- It was another cloudy day, with occasional light rain. All morning we didn't do much but read and watch TV.

Later in the afternoon we headed to Mom Alberta's (Jim's mom) for dinner. She cooked my favorite meal, a shrimp and rice dish that's beyond delicious. She makes it for us whenever we come to town.

Southern shrimp fried rice. Yummy!

Coleslaw, fried flounder fingers, sweet potatoes, cornbread, and shrimp fried rice.

Judy brought our dessert, a scrumptious pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream. It was a wonderful feast, and we all ate way too much! After a couple of hours of socializing after dinner we came home. It was a great day with friends and family.

WOW! That sounds like the kind of meal I love! You're so lucky and I'm so envious. Enjoy.
