(Jennings, FL) Hi 84 Lo 58 -- We were a little nervous this morning wondering if we’d remember all the steps of our departure routine. Fortunately the slides came in, the legs came up, and the wheels turned after sitting for five months. We were under way at 10:15. We were headed to Jenning, Fl near the Georgia border, a trip of about 240 miles.
Jim pulling our of our site at Adelaide Shores RV Resort.
It’s been a great winter stay. We’ll be back in November.
We took U.S. 27 north about 80 miles to the Florida Turnpike, which merged onto I-75 after about 20 miles. Next time we'll go about 30 miles out of our way and stay on the interstates. It took us over two hours to go the 80 miles on U.S. 27 with all the stop lights and heavy traffic. We ended up getting separated a few miles when I kept getting stopped at red lights behind Jim. Most of our RV friends prefer to use two-lane U.S. and state roads when they travel. But we're different in that we feel safer and more relaxed on the interstates. Maybe we don't see as much of the local scenery that way, but with both of us driving we don't have a lot of time to look at scenery anyway. All I know is, it was a little stressful today until we got off of U.S. 27 and onto the turnpike, then I-75.
We got to Jennings Outdoor Resort at 3:30. After we got set up we had plenty of time to do our walk before dinner. It’s a very nice park with lots of sites, all of them pull throughs and many right on a small lake.

We're just a few sites from the clubhouse building, which also has the laundry room, and restroom/showers.
Looking out our window at the lake.
View from the office across the lake.
There’s lots of ducks, including this mother with 10 ducklings.
Pavilion with a porch swing.
The pool area is behind the clubhouse.
A little bridge goes out to a pretty gazebo on the lake.
There’s a nice tent area.
There were plenty of empty sites.
We’re here for two nights. As our regular readers know, we don't like to travel on consecutive days if we can help it. Some possible severe weather may be coming through tomorrow night into Friday morning. We’ll keep an eye on that to see if we may have to extend another day.
It was a great first day of our summer travels.

Those ducklings are just so cute. I probably missed this somewhere along the time but what are your plans for summer travel?
Enjoy the summer trip-hope all the cold weather is gone when you get there.
Glad to see you rolling again. How long did it take for the flat spots to work out of the tires? ;c)
Looking at the map, it's pretty hard to leave Avon Park without using two-lane roads and stoplights. Will have to watch your route next year. Looking forward to your travels this year. Where are you headed?
It won't be long before we are outta here ourselves. We keep thinking we hope we remember what all to do..good thing we have checklists :)
Yes it is coming your way. It is here in Louisiana now but not severe. Hope you have a safe trip..we will be thinking about you.
Stayed at that Jennings campground many times. Do they still have the cats in the cages in the laundry room at night?
