(Avon Park, FL) Hi 79 Lo 49 --
This morning we went to church without Kathleen and Jon for the first time. They have family visiting this week. Many of the park residents have their grand kids visiting here this week for Spring Break.
After church I made a strawberry rhubarb pie. I still had a package of rhubarb from when we went to Wisconsin and I wanted to get it used. The strawberries I got yesterday at Plant City. I had some trouble with the crust, but I finally got it.
While that was baking I went over to the club house area to the park's St. Patrick’s Day. There weren’t as many "floats" (decorated golf carts) as last year, but there were still some good ideas. (Click on pictures to enlarge.)
Some of the huge crowd of people on the parade route. :)
This guy rides his recumbant bike on the back roads.
Check out the little dog. It stood that way the whole way around the park.
This was the favorite. Talk about challenging; that's a real guy on the roof.
I got back home just in time for the start of the NASCAR race. That took care of the rest of the afternoon. I must be getting hitch itch. I went on Google Maps and looked at the street view of some of the places we’re heading to in Pennsylvania this summer. We’re going to visit some of our card night friends at their summer time homes. Several of them live fairly close to each other in Pennsylvania. It’s going to be a fun summer!
I hope everyone had a great St. Patty’s day. I’m sure there was a lot of corn beef and cabbage for meals.

We had our corned beef & cabbage last night, and it was so good. Pennsylvania is a beautiful state and you should have a great time there.
We enjoyed Pa when we were there a few yrs ago, but we didn't have the fiver with us, I'd like to go back and do the scenic routes with the mountains.
Parade looks like a hoot :)
We had to record the race cause Jim was driving his race car. He had so much fun. And no corned beef either. But it was a great St. Patrick's Day.
