Fun Day with the Happy Hookers

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 76 Lo 62 -- Last night we went to our church, Union Congregational Church, to see the Triumphant Quartet. We got there 20 minutes before showtime and the church was packed. Fortunately we found two seats near the back. It was a good performance by a very polished southern gospel quartet. We love that kind of music.

Today was a great day with my new friends in the Happy Hookers, our crocheting and knitting group. There's over 35 women in the group, and if you need help making something or want to learn any technique there's plenty of experts. Today was their yearly lunch get together with a representative from the Project Linus. Project Linus collects blankets to distribute to children of survivors of emergencies or disasters like the Sandy Hook school shooting or Hurricane Sandy. They also give blankets to children in families that lost a military member.  I'm going to make a red, white, and blue afghan along with a small crocheted baby blanket. I'm also working on my vest (always needing help) and hot pads. I'm keeping busy! Today's lunch was a fun opportunity to get to know one another. Some have been at the park for a long time, others are just getting here.

Kathleen, Mary Jean, Connie and Polly

When I got back to the RV I did my one mile walk with Judy then checked out patterns on the internet for the afghan I want to make. We had dinner and went to play cards.
