RV Maintenance in the AM - Basketball in the PM

(Scott AFB, IL) Hi 85 Lo 60 -- We had a middle-of-the-night thunderstorm that woke us up, but when we determined it wasn't going to produce any hail we calmed down and went back to sleep.

I worked on our financials for April, and for the first time we didn't go over our total budget. We didn't go over on food for the first time since we've been full timing. We did go over budget on fuel, but that's mainly due to our heavy travel schedule in April.

Jim had a busy day. He did the laundry for one thing. Also he replaced the thermostat on our water heater. If you remember, we had a full inspection of our rig done in Florida on our way north, and they discovered the propane side of the water heater didn't work. They determined it was a bad thermostat, but we didn't want to stay behind an extra day for them to get the part and fix it. Jim ordered the part last week and successfully installed it today. He'll be the first one to admit that he's not the handiest guy around when it comes to mechanical things, so he felt pretty good about getting it done. Tomorrow he'll tackle replacing the vent cover that was busted in the hail storm we had last Saturday.

Later in the afternoon we went to Frank's for dinner. He grilled marinated chicken, and Angie fixed corn, baked beans and potato salad for the sides.  It was a great meal!

After dinner we piled into Angie's minivan and left for Kendall's basketball game. It was in Chesterfield, MO, the same place we went for Saturday's games. Our Jr. Panthers played great tonight. The other team had some taller players, which worried us at first. But our defense was so good that the other guys had trouble keeping control of the ball. The Jr. Panthers won 53-32. We were impressed for sure. I'm really liking basketball, especially with Frank sitting beside me to explain rules. We had a very good time tonight. The next game is Saturday afternoon.

Kendall is number 51, ready to catch the ball.

We got home too late for the chatroom. I miss it when I don't get in, but family comes first. I don't miss too many nights. We'll be busy from now till we leave, with one thing or another, and meeting up with people we know in the area.

You'll have to let us know how the vent cover install goes. We need to add those to our trailer. That way we won't have to worry about the rain.
