Ocala

(Ocala, FL) Hi 88 Lo 57 -- We both slept very well last night. Now that the anxiety of the "first move" of the new season is past us, we feel a lot more relaxed. Also, there were no trains to wake us. It was a very quiet night.

We both had our morning computer time, and while I was catching up on blogs I noticed Nancy and Bill were at Lazy Days RV yesterday. I thought they had already left, but they were still there taking delivery of their new motorhome. We were right there at the dealer when we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel and stopped in at Camper's World. We would have looked them up if we knew they were there. Fortunately we'll see them this fall.

We decided to check out the area while we're here. Ocala is known for its horse farms, but we drove mainly around the downtown area. There's not much personality in the city, nothing to distinguish it from any other mid-size city. Tuscawilla Park is nice, and we even found a geocache there. We did come across Highlands Memorial Park.

It has two sections, one small older area with gravestones dating back to the 1800's, and the more modern section with flat grave markers. There was also a large mausoleum.

On the outskirts of town we saw this unique gas station/convenience store

After a stop for lunch we returned to our park. The park is small and has no amenities, and we wouldn't stay here for a long period of time, but it's fine for a one or two night stay. It's clean, and the managers are nice. I worked the rest of the afternoon making a summary map of our 2010 travels on maps.google. So far I'm having a lot of trouble getting it right, but I'll keep working at it. Jim took his truck to fill up with diesel. Diesel fuel here averages around $4.20, but he found one station nearby that has it for $4.15.

We're leaving tomorrow morning on a six-hour trip to the Florida panhandle. It's good to be on the move again.

Ohhh love the new header pic!

Glad you guys are on the road, and rolling along nicely. My folks live near Ocala, by Williston. But right now they zoomed up to Ohio for a few days. LOL
