First Trip In New Car

(Avon Park, FL) Hi 76 Lo  40 --  Brrrrrrr....  It got mighty chilly last night. At 3:30 we were both up pulling up the covers and turning on our little ceramic heater. We fell back to sleep with no problems. Jim was up first to turn on the fireplace to take off the chill. In Florida the cold doesn't last long. It started warming up by the time we left for Tampa at 8:30.

Jim had his final follow-up appointment at the VA hospital in Tampa, so we stopped at IHOP for breakfast. Jim had to be in three separate places at three different times. Everything went very smoothly and we made all the appointments on time. Jim passed everything with flying colors so we're ready for our spring and summer travels.

We left there and had lunch at Lenny's Sub Shop and got back to Avon Park by 3:00. This was our first extended trip in our new car, and it was very smooth and comfortable. It's such an improvement over the old car. We did our first fill-up and we got 24 miles per gallon on our first tank of gas. That's about what we got on the old car, and this car is bigger and has a bigger engine. I can now pass other cars without taking a long time to get up to speed. I do have to watch the speedometer, the car is so quiet that it feels slower than you're actually going.  I love it, it was a great decision to get it for our travels.

We had a light supper then went to the clubhouse to play cards. It's a good time and we like meeting new people and socializing. Nothing planned for tomorrow, so it should be another relaxing day.

Nice to hear that Jim did well with his medical exams. The new car sounds like it was a very good choice to meet your needs. Always fun to play cards with a good group of people. Have a GREAT WEEK!

Best news about Jim! I bet you feel a great sense of relief and freedom, and now that you have a new car--well, I'd say life is good for the two of you. I'm very happy for you.
