Visiting with Family - RV Fixed and Ready for Another Year

(Millersburg, IN) Hi 82 Lo 61 -- Today started REALLY early, before the sun was up. We had to set the alarm clock for the first time in a long while, so naturally I didn't sleep well, waiting for it to go off. We were up at 6am, the sun came up later. After we got everything stowed and the slides brought in, we went outside and saw this pretty view of the sun peeking through the trees and morning mist.

We unplugged all the hoses and electrical cord and waited for the factory guy to come get our home. Ours was one of three to go in for service this morning, and they got us last at 7:25. It was a funny feeling watching our home head down the road behind a strange truck.

We left to get some breakfast at one of our favorite local places, Middlebury Hills Restaurant. While we were there we checked the dinner menu and determined it would be a good place to meet two friends we're getting together with tomorrow evening.

After filling our tummies, and since we had no home to return to, we drove up to Niles, MI to visit my nephew Dave and his wife Tina. It was about an hour away, just over the Michigan line. We didn't see many buggies so we made good time getting up there. Just before we arrived their electricity went out, so we sat on their deck and talked for a while. (Jim asked Dave where his magic button was that turned on his generator. Dave wasn't amused.) Dave is a co-owner of an internet radio station, and he took us by to see it. Music, weather reports, and commercials are streamed by mp3 on the internet 24/7. It's all done automatically, and Dave can access the system from his home if he has to. If you want to hear the station from Niles, Michigan, click here.

Dave is explaining how everything works to Jim.

Dave is also pastor of Abundant Life Fellowship church in nearby South Bend, IN. He gave us a tour of the church, which was built in 1896 and has had many additions over the years. We're so happy for him!

It was lunch time so we went to a restaurant in Niles, which was excellent. They have lunch specials for $5, which includes a cup of soup and several choices of sandwiches. You sure can't beat that!

Then we stopped by the St. Joseph River and took a stroll along the riverfront. They have a great park along the river with many activities on the weekends, and evening music concerts during the week. It's really a nice area. Here's Dave and Tina in front of the Veterans Memorial that honors military veterans from Niles.

Some views of the riverfront park area.

We wanted to be back at the RV park when they brought our home back, so we had to leave at 1:30. When we got back we went to the club house to wait, and just as we settled in with Kindle and games, we saw it rolling up to our site. It looks great. They took care of everything on our list, and also replaced a slide seal they thought was a little too worn. Pretty impressive service!

We got all the connections hooked back up, opened the slides, and got the air conditioner on, then chilled the rest of the evening. I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow!
