Living Our First Night in the RV - at the Dealers

We got up at 6am and grabbed a McDonald's breakfast. We headed out at 7:00. The first stop was Campers World to pick up a couple items we knew we had to get. We arrived at the dealers a little after 10:00. They had our 5er sitting out and open ready for us.

We started the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) right after all the papers were signed. We had a great guy to teach us everything. Some of the confusing stuff we put on video. We absolutely love it!! There's so much to learn. We found out why so many ohhh and ahhhhs from the dealer, it's the first unit they've seen with the Bigfoot all leveling system by pushing one button and the full slide. Also on the 2010 units things have been moved around a bit to make it more convenient.

We went to lunch then back to do the PDI inside of the rig. In the meantime we sat a couple hours to have the home surge protector put in. They had some trouble so took them longer then we thought it would. Toward evening and after dark, they got the water in tank and then took off the hose since it's going to be below 25 tonight. I'll have more inside pictures tomorrow since it was way to dark to get good ones.

We're going to put some things where they belong in the drawers, then check every system and every outlet for power. We already have a few little problems. The shower head doesn't stay up where it belongs and the pump sounds funny, a banging noise. The heat is great and seems to be quiet. The generator is also very quiet.

We're very tired, and we have a lot more to do with checking things out. The fireplace is on and the wifi (from the dealer) is working great. We'll have wine in a few minutes, check emails and hit the hay. We have to be up by 7:30 tomorrow to start more learning and fixing the shower.

Thanks to the gals in the RV-Dreams chatroom last night for helping with a list of things to be sure we have with us for our first couple days. The ONLY thing I've found I forgot so far is salt & pepper. Supper in our new home was good on the gas stove. If we're here tomorrow night I'm fixing something to use the convection oven.

This is going to be quite the life. How sweet it is!!!

Exciting stuff. Try everything at least twice before signing of the PDI. This is you big chance to get all the problems found and corrected. We had many when we started out and we did not find them all right away as we were in a hurry to get started. There will be some you miss.

Good luck!

Jim and Denyse,

Congratulations!! We are so excited for you. Don't get discouraged with the things that may show up as problems - just goes with the lifestyle. We're looking forward to seeing you soon!!!

How exciting is this??? The day you've been waiting for...forever! Congrats to you both. It's a shame the weather isn't a bit warmer but you'll be able to test out all the systems this way-except, maybe, the air conditioning :)
See you Sunday.
