Back Home

What a great trip. The reason we hate going down to Morehead City is a section of highway from Kinston to New Bern. It's like the picture to the left. For some reason it's never been changed, there's no signs, no roads to get off, nothing. If you need a break you better take it before heading into this area you won't get it unless you pull off the road but you have to stay near the vehicle. We've never figured out why there's been nothing built in that area. We call it the no-mans land. In 1970 I had to travel with our two sons at a very young age and got caught speeding. Both boys were screaming I hadn't eaten for several hours, and couldn't get anything because it was so late at night. The cop felt sorry for us, took us to a place to eat and got the boys settled down. What a great guy. I've never forgot it and I was so thankful for help that night. We finally got to Morehead City, but that was the story of that stretch of roadway on just one of the many trips we've been on that long lonely section of highway.

We got up at 8am this morning and was greated with wind and gorgeous sun shining on the North River. It was a breathtaking view and I'm so glad we had the chance of staying with Sharon (Jim's sister). We'll have a lot more views like that in our lives, I'm sure. We went to breakfast with a lot of the family members and got a later start then normal heading home. We stopped an Army surplus store and got a shovel that folds up and a couple tent stakes for the satellite dish. We also stopped at Seymour Johnson AFB, to pick up a few items then headed home.

We got home about 3:00, took mom home and went out to eat. We had a nice quiet evening catching up on computer blogs and news.

I like the idea of a folding shovel although I haven't yet gotten one. Soon.
