Decision - WE'RE GOING TO BE TEXANS

I stayed up another late night in the chatroom, but only till 1:30am this time. We've learned a lot from the RV-Dreams chatroom. We had a couple more new people come in last night that had questions or just wanted to know what it was all about. There's so much to learn and so many questions when you're wanting to go full time or wanting to buy an RV. Welcome to all the new people reading blogs, forum, or joining us in the RV-Dreams chatroom.

It was a lot cooler today and no sun like it was predicted so instead of washing and waxing the car like I planned, I got a lot of little things out of the way, of course all geared for the arrival of the RV. Jim decided the best home state for us will be Texas. There's several reasons, for just us. We like Escapees for the mailing. We like the fact we'll be in that part of the country most of the time and able to visit or work at the Escapees care center (we may end up there one day). It may not be the cheapest, but it seems to fit, at least for the moment. We have friends in Texas near Livingston. When we go to Texas in March we'll get it all settled.

We have also decided, if we give up the apartment early, we'll get a PO Box in town and use it till we get settled in Texas. I have a feeling we'll be in the apartment and the RV till we pull out for Texas. It may take that long to sell the rest of the stuff.

FOR THOSE THINKING OF GOING FULL TIME: Sell and sell and get rid of stuff. Things show up from nowhere and it's a never ending job. I've heard that for the past four years that we've worked on this project. It's very true.

All afternoon we worked on the lists that we've created the last four years. I have a nice list for Lowes and worked on getting files off the computer that are no longer needed. This will be a very busy week getting the little things done. I also looked up all the info for Social Security card and when I can apply (March). It's a great Sunday getting the little stuff done while watching the NASCAR race.

Tonight I have to go to bed early, but only a few Mondays to go. I'm hoping to quit earlier then the December 4th that's on the schedule. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks.

Oh so glad you have settled on a state for residency. It's a big decision with lots of personal reasons due to income, taxes, etc.

One thing I don't often see mentioned on many fulltime information lists is about your own private Health Insurance. I have read that some plans might allow you to switch states of residency, but you can incur larger premiums by moving to a different state. It's a huge surprise to some folks to find out they now owe an extra $400 or 500 a month on top of their already established premium because they moved to a different state. Same plan, same coverage, but they charge you more. Just a heads up. Might double check on that?

Escapees in Livingston will give you all the info and directions to get you license, inspection, and registration. Make sure you have your Social Security card with you.
No card no license no exceptions.
